Do we camp?
Yes. We provide sierra designs tents and thick thermarest mattresses. It is camping though. All meals take place on the mothership. Since the mothership is a traditional regional design there isnt quite enough space to sleep, but the camp sites are nice and protected. It is the way to go.

Is Chile safe?
Yes. Chile has the most stable economy of Latin America. Here many of the crime issues that exist around the world don't exist. People live in a simple way and respect visitors. Santiago is a large capital similar to others around the world, but compared to others it is relatively safe.

What are your payment/cancelation policies?
Great question.

What sets us apart from the competition is truly bilingual internationally experienced guides with many years of sea kayak guiding in the region.

The safety and security of a support mother ship. What a help to group dynamics this is!!!!!

If people want to paddle more they paddle the whole time. If people aren’t ready to paddle a lot they can enjoy the sights and wildlife aboard the mother ship. No other operator can provide this type of flexibility.

Also, this is a remote area. If some type of emergency happened the client does not have to be towed or paddle out. We just get on the ship and head towards help.

Not other groups have this.

We travel in the company of a local captain and first mate and Chef. These people are from the area in which we are traveling. These trips are a way for them to share their home with you and enjoy a low impact way of receiving income so they can stay in the area that they love and have lived there whole lives in. The Captain is from the island we stop on. There is only one family that has ever lived there, they run the hot springs. The first mate is from the one of the fjords that we visit. The same goes for his family being the only one to have ever lived in that fjord. Did I mention the Chef? She specializes in whipping up local delicacies while we paddle from the mother ship. She is an international Chef and teaches cooking in Santiago in the off season. The team that we make up as a group puts us miiiiiiiiles apart from the competition.

Personally, the security of the mother ship and the local people that we are lucky enough to share this experience with are the reasons for which I work with this operation. The fact that we are providing a low impact way to appreciate this special area while supporting local populations and culture is what sets this trip apart from other operators lets us actually call this a type of "Ecotourism." Others can not do this in the same way.

We may be few hundred bucks more expensive than the competition, but none can provide the type of experience or the community oriented approach that we are all about. Nor can they provide the trust that Ocean Air and Olas y Vientos Kayak provide.
