Rachel, Mike, Sharon, Diane, Tom, Chris, Ed, and  Harry left from the North Amelia Island boat launch.  We stopped by the fort and Sharon and Rachel told us about the fort.   We stopped by the beach at the jetty for lunch.  Ed and Chris crossed the jetty.  Rachel, Mike and Diane went around  Cumberland to see the horses.  Lots of soft sand walking to…

Cumberland Island  day 3

 
Elliotts Bluff, Georgia, United States

Gail, Lindsay, Sharon, Diane, Chris, Ed, Harry, Rick, Tom, paddled to Cumberland Island.  Cumberland Island was owned by the Carnegie Family and is now a National Park.  There is a mansion on the island.  I believe the mansion was built in 1898 and added on to in 1904-1905.  The ranger gave us a history and tour of the mansion.   PA180035.JPG Photo

South Jekyll Island to Christmas Creek day 2

Kayaking / Canoeing | 14.2 miles
 
Tom, Ed, Chris and Diane paddled from South Jekyll Island (Atlantic Park) to Christmas Creek.  We played in the waves and ate lunch on a sand bar.

Jekyll Island Day 1 San Simon Light

 
Jekyll Island, Georgia, United States
Kayaking / Canoeing | 12.7 miles
 
Tom, Ed, Diane, Phares and Chris paddled from North Jekyll Island to the San Simon’s lighthouse.  We tried paddling backwards in the current lining up with the fishing dock,  and we tried to sideslip the dock posts.   Then we rolled next to the buoy.  We tried some surfing.  We checked out the park.
